Brazzaville, Congo, January 30  (Infosplusgabon) -  The representative of the European Union (EU) in Congo, Saskia de Lang, has expressed the commitment of the EU to provide financial and technical assistance to residents of the Pool region of Congo who have been victims of armed clashes between police and the Ninjas nsiloulou militia of Pastor Ntumi.

The EU representative made the statement on Monday at a meeting in Brazzaville with Isidore Mvouba, President of the Congolese National Assembly.

Mr. Mvouba and the representative of the EU discussed bilateral issues including the displaced people of Pool region, their social and vocational reintegration and return of peace to the area devastated by violence. She also discussed with Mvouba the issue of governance.

According to her, Congo must implement reforms on good governance of financial resources of the country, especially those intended for the population's well-being.

This objective underlies the fight against fraud, corruption and bribery, the improvement of the business climate to encourage foreign investment to create employment and thus to fight against poverty.
