Zurich, Switzerland, December 21 (Infosplusgabon) - The Bureau of football's world governing body (FIFA) Council has decided to appoint a normalisation committee for the Malian Football Association (FEMAFOOT) in accordance with its Statutes.

The committee will be in charge of running the daily affairs of FEMAFOOT, reviewing the association’s statutes, identifying the legitimate delegates of the FEMAFOOT general assembly, and organising and conducting elections for a new FEMAFOOT executive committee, which should take place no later than 30 April 2018.

A FIFA statement on Wednesday said the decision to appoint a normalisation committee follows the current deadlock affecting FEMAFOOT and comes after two missions to Bamako dispatched by FIFA and CAF.

"The normalisation committee will be composed of an adequate number of members to be identified by a joint FIFA/CAF mission, which will take place soon. All members of the normalisation committee must pass an eligibility check to be carried out by the FIFA Review Committee," the statement said.

The normalisation committee will act as an electoral committee and none of its members will be eligible for any of the open positions in the elections, it added.

In March this year, FIFA banned Mali for six weeks for the interference of the government in the running of football in the West African country country.

Following the ban Malian clubs Onze Createurs and Djoliba were disqualified from the 2017 Confederation Cup.
