Banjul, Gambia, November 25 (Infosplusgabon) - Gambian President, Adama Barrow, will Monday, 27 November, 2017, move to the State House in Banjul, the Gambian capital city, for the first time since assuming power in January, according to official sources.

President Barrow has been running the affairs of state from the residence of former Vice President of the old regime located in Fajara, in the country’s largest town of Serre Kunda while the State House is being renovated.

“President Barrow will move to State House in Banjul and all appointments and his operations will be from Banjul effective Monday,” Presidential Press Secretary, Amie Bojang Sissoho, told reporters in The Gambia.

Barrow, 52, came to power after defeating long time ruler and dictator, Yahya Jammeh, in the 1 December, 2016, election.

Former President Jammeh refused to hand over power peacefully to Barrow, prompting the sub-regional bloc, ECOWAS, to send troops into the Gambia which forced Jammeh to quit power.

Since Jammeh’s unceremonious departure from Gambia’s State House, the place had to undergo renovation and President Barrow therefore had to stay away.
