NAVI MUMBAI, India, October  7 (Infosplusgabon) - Mali on Friday spoilt Africa's fun at the 2017 FIFA Under-17 World Cup in India, succumbing 3-2 to Paraguay on a Day the Black Starlets of Ghana warned that Africa has come of age with their interesting 1-0 win over Colombia.

In their Group B match at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, Antonio Galeano scored for the winners in the 12th minute and Sanchez Cohener made it 2-0 in the 5 minutes later but the Africans struck back 3 minutes later, scoring their first goal through Hadji Dramé.

Mali drew level in the 34th minute through Lassana Ndiaye but the Africans succumbed to pressure, conceding a penalty through which Francisco Rodríguez scored in the 55th minute.

Ghana gave Africa a reason to smile with their Group A win over Colombia at the same venue.

The climax of the day was a Group A encounter between hosts India and the US. Many Indians packed the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi longing to see India make their mark in a FIFA competition.

They were, however, disappointed after the Americans scored three unreplied goals over the 90 minutes of play. The encounter had plenty of build-up and the crowd included the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.

There was hope that the hosts might rise to the occasion and get their campaign off to a bright start. Unfortunately, their US opponents had other ideas and showed their qualities in a 3-0 victory, despite great support for the home team.
