Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, August 27 (Infosplusgabon) - Monday,  marked the start of athletics events at the 12th African Games in Rabat, Morocco.

Côte d'Ivoire will be represented by a dozen athletes led by Marie Josée Ta Lou, double gold medalist in the 100 and 200m at the last African Games in 2015 in Brazzaville.

Gueu Cissé, 100 m number two African  champion and Murielle Ahouré, double second world champion for 100 and 200 metres.

If Ta Lou and Cissé defend individual titles, Murielle Ahouré, will only align on the women's 4X100 relay.

Ta Lou and Gueu Cissé arrived in Rabat with several American and European Meetings on the legs. Ta lou has on Sunday won second place synonymous with silver medal at the Meeting in Paris, counting for the Diamond League, on 100m before flying to Rabat.

For Anthony Koffi, coach of Cissé and Ta Lou, "the presence of his athletes is motivated by the desire to offer medals to Côte d'Ivoire."

"At the African level, they have their fame to defend. Normally with them, chances of medals exist for Côte d'Ivoire," he said.
