Tripoli, Libya, April 7 (Infosplusgabon) - The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) on Sunday called on all the military belligerents to observe a two-hour humanitarian truce in the fighting areas in southern Tripoli to evacuate the wounded and civilians.

In an urgent notice, the UNSMIL "called  on all military parties present in the areas of Wadi Rabi, Gasr Ben Gachir and Al-Aziziya in Tripoli to respect a humanitarian truce between 04:00 (14:00 GMT) and 18:00 (16H00 GMT)".

The aim of the truce is "to secure the evacuation of the wounded and civilians by emergency bodies and teams and the Libyan Red Crescent", the UNSMIL said in a Tweet.

Armed clashes resumed Sunday in the southern suburbs of the capital, Tripoli, with the announcement by the national army led by Haftar that its jet fighters had launched raids in the suburbs of Tripoli.

On Wednesday, the forces of the Libyan national army launched an offensive in the West of the country to root out terrorist groups from their last lairs in the region heading towards Tripoli.

They were contained on the outskirts of the city by the armed groups and military formations loyal to the government of national accord.
