Algiers, Algeria, April 7 (Infosplusgabon) – Thousands of Algerians took to the streets in massive protest marches in all Algerian Wilayas (regions) for the seventh consecutive Friday to demand the departure of key figures of the incumbent regime.

Chanting slogans, they insisted on the need to establish a transitional period with national competences and without the personalities of the regime of resigning President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

In Algiers, as in hardly all the Algerian Wilayas, demonstrators demanded “a new Republic” and “a transitional period decided by the Algerian people”.

In the slogans showed by different categories of social groups and social classes are appeals for the preservation of the peaceful character of the marches.

In another development, General Athmane Tartag, President Bouteflika’s advisor in charge of coordinating security services, resigned from his duties, sources close to the ministry of Defence said on Friday.
