Libya, ICRC review further cooperation on Libyan situation

Tripoli, Libya, March 15 (Infosplusgabon) - Officials of the Libyan government of national accord and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) met here Wednesday to discuss further cooperation between them, an official source said.

 

The meeting brought together Libya’s minister of health Ahmed Ben Omar, deputy-chairman of the Mission of in Libya, Abdelmajid Al-Chaer, and the coordinator of the health programme of the mission, Bart Di Bort to also explore ways of promoting cooperation among them.

 

The press office of the Libyan Health ministry announced that Abdelmajid al-Chaer informed the Libyan minister of Health about the actions carried out by the committee during last year, including the training of Libyan medical staff to be ready to manage emergency cases.

 

The ministry said that Mr Omar agreed with the mission’s members to “carry on the cooperation and efforts made, by strengthening the actions and by consolidating the coordination,” adding that “the support will focus on the next stage on the aspect of development and the technical aspect of national executives”.

 

The press office said the meeting also discussed “the efforts of the committee, support provided in the armed conflict and the mechanisms of full cooperation between them and the Red-Crescent in coordination with the ministry of Health”.
