CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup postponed indefinitely due to administrative issue

Kigali, Rwanda, November 14 (Infosplusgabon) - The 2018 Senior Challenge Cup of the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) has been postponed indefinitely due to administrative issues in the host country, Kenya, Sports source confirmed Wednesday in Kigali.

The competition was scheduled to be played in Kenya in December this year after Zanzibar which was selected earlier as the host country announced it was facing "adverse circumstances in the administration of football ".

Reports said that one of the major sponsors for the league was also in favour of the postponement.

CECAFA secretary-general, Nicholas Musonye, explained that the oldest competition bringing teams from Eritrea, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Sudan, South Sudan, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi will not be staged this year.

"There was a spirited attempt by us to get an alternatives host, but the timing was also impossible," he said.
