Cape Town, South Africa, April 13  (Infosplusgabon) - Top South African television host Trevor Noah has launched his own foundation in Johannesburg which aims to provide orphans with education programmes and skills development.

The foundation has partnered with computer giant Microsoft.

"We are going to look for people who are already pushing, and we are going to help them push. The foundation is going to bridge the gap between learners and the education they deserve," Noah said on Wednesday.

Noah’s mother, Patricia Nombuyiselo Noah, is black and his father, Robert, is white and of Swiss German ethnicity.

His parents' interracial relationship was illegal at the time of his birth under apartheid and his mother was jailed and fined by the South African government.

He began his career as an actor, presenter, and comedian in his native South Africa. His stand-up comedy career attained international success, leading to appearances on American late night talk shows and British panel shows.

In 2014, Noah became the Senior International Correspondent for The Daily Show, an American satirical news programme. The following year, he was announced as the successor of long-time host Jon Stewart.
