Arab League delegation in Djibouti to observe elections

Djibouti, Djibouti, February 20 (Infosplusgabon) -  A high-level delegation of the League of Arab States (LAS) led by the vice-president and former prime minister of Mauritania, Mohamed Lamine Ould Akik, arrived on Sunday in Djibouti for the final preparations and observation of the national assembly election on 23 February.

 

 

A statement by the League said the mission is composed of six observers chosen according to several criteria, including experience in observation of elections and the mastery of the French language. They come from Tunisia, Algeria, Comoros, Egypt and Mauritania.

 

The mission would meet officials of the Interior and Decentralization Ministry, Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ministry, Constitutional Council, Independent National Electoral Commission, National Communications Commission as well as representatives of all the political parties and civil society organizations.

 

The mission will evaluate different aspects of the electoral process including campaigns, voting, and publication of results.
